NIA MIMAROPA GAD Focal Trains on the Preparation on Gender-Responsive Irrigation Proposal

Puerto Princesa City, Palawan - NIA MIMAROPA Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System trains on the preparation of gender-responsive irrigation proposals on February 28 to March 1, 2025.

NIA Central Office Administrative Department Manager Atty. Ailyne C. Agtuca-Selda graced the activity where she shared various legal bases in promoting GAD in the agency and community.

Represented by Administrative and Finance Division Manager Kirsty Caroline M. Hernandez-Aceron, NIA MIMAROPA GFPS Chairperson and Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes emphasized the importance of incorporating gender considerations into irrigation projects to ensure they benefit all members of the community, especially women. This demonstrates a commitment to gender equality within the NIA.

Mr. James Arsenio O. Ponce, an expert from the Philippine Commission on Women and the training's resource person, details the ten elements of the Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG), a tool to measure the gender-responsiveness of the agency's programs and projects. After this, a workshop was conducted where each GAD-attributed project proposals were critiqued. Various recommendations were shared to improve everyone's output.

This training has equipped the NIA MIMAROPA GFPS with the essential tools and knowledge to develop irrigation projects that are truly inclusive and beneficial for all.
