Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro - To strengthen the financial management capabilities of Irrigators' Associations in the MIMAROPA Region, the National Irrigation Administration MIMAROPA, through the Institutional Development Unit, conducted a five-day Re-Echo Training on Financial Management for Institutional Development Program Implementers from February 3-7, 2025.
In his message, EOD Manager Engr. Lowell L. Lozano emphasized the vital role of IDP implementers in empowering IAs to manage their finances effectively. By strengthening their financial management skills, IAs could achieve long-term sustainability and growth, ultimately improving the farmers' livelihoods—a vision aligned with NIA’s commitment to improving the quality of life of Filipino farmers.
The training aimed to strengthen participants' skills in financial planning, bookkeeping, reporting, and control, ensuring financial sustainability and accountability among IAs. This initiative aligned with the previous Facilitators’ Training on Financial Management Systems conducted by the NIA Central Office-Institutional Development Division and the CARP-Irrigation Component Project Management Office, which focused on simplifying bookkeeping processes and improving financial transparency.
Through the Re-Echo Training, IDP implementers gained essential knowledge in financial recording systems, tax compliance, and auditing principles, reinforcing financial integrity and sustainability within IAs. By standardizing bookkeeping practices and strengthening financial management roles, the training sought to improve financial viability, accountability, and efficiency. This enabled IDP implementers to effectively cascade these learnings to IAs under the Irrigation Management Transfer (IMT) Program, fostering better financial practices across the region.
The resource persons for this activity were CARP-IC Senior Accounting Processors Sheree Ann T. Atienza, Darryl A. De Lara, and Olivia Mae B. Timones, along with IDP Implementers Irene V. Gayos, Christian I. Garcia, Vivian T. Dimzon, and Xyrus Kim S. Escano, who previously attended the Facilitator’s Training on Bookkeeping and Financial Management for Irrigators’ Association in November 2024 in NIA Region XI.
