Loyal Small Irrigation Project Brings New Hope to Farmers in Victoria, Oriental Mindoro

Victoria, Oriental Mindoro - Farmers in Barangay Loyal, welcomed the inauguration of new irrigation facility that enhances their crop yields and livelihoods. The ₱27.9 million Loyal Small Irrigation Project (SIP) will supply water to 70 hectares of crop planted with fruit-bearing trees benefiting 34 farmers belonging to the Barangay Loyal Water Irrigation Association Inc.

During the formal turnover ceremony, NIA Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon (MOMARO) Irrigation Management Office (IMO) Division Manager Engr. Maria Victoria O. Malenab formally turned over the symbolic key to the farmers. They were grateful, citing how the project would enable them to plant more crops and earn more income by providing a water source all year round.

The project was made possible through the efforts of NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, whose vision and support made this much-needed infrastructure a reality for the community. With better irrigation access, farmers now have the ability to farm their fields more productively, resulting in more bountiful harvests and a more secure food supply.

The completion of the Loyal SIP is an indication that NIA is committed to helping rural farmers through the provision of vital infrastructure for agricultural development. As the farmers own the system, they anticipate a brighter and more sustainable future.
