Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro - Under the leadership of NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes and the guidance of Occidental Mindoro IMO (OMIMO) Division Manager Engr. Raymundo L. Calusin, the Occidental Mindoro IMO, through the Institutional Development Unit, spearheaded the conduct of the Rice Contract Farming Orientation for participating Irrigators' Associations (IAs) during the First Quarter Provincial Federation Meeting at the NIA OMIMO Training Center in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro.
The Rice Contract Farming scheme aims to accelerate and sustain quality rice production, attaining rice sufficiency and security by providing necessary agricultural inputs and capital to enhance farmers' productivity and competitiveness. This initiative aligns with NIA's corporate goals and objectives to improve the quality of life for farmers under the leadership of Administrator Engr. Eduardo "Eddie" G. Guillen.
OMIMO Senior IDO Edwin V. Arevalo led the discussion on the guidelines of the Rice Contract Farming as per MC No. 04, s. 2024. Four IAs from Occidental Mindoro IMO, with a total area of 140.65 hectares, will participate in the NIA Rice Contract Farming program in the province of Occidental Mindoro.
