Palawan - The NIA MIMAROPA, Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO) facilitated a successful marketing agreement between Ibato Iraan Farmer Irrigators Association (FIA) and Butterfly Eco Garden and Tribal Village tourist destination in Puerto Princesa City. This initiative aligns with Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program by helping the IAs increase their income and provide sustainable livelihood opportunities.
With the help of this agreement, Eco Garden and Tribal Village can get supply of sinamacan and pinasugbo products from the lakas kababaihan, a committee of Ibato Iraan FIA in Aborlan composed of 25 women farmers organized through Gender and Development (GAD) program. Their locally produced goods are now available to tourists visiting the destination. In return, the association will benefit from guaranteed sales, fair prices, and increased income opportunities.
Through this partnership, the lakas kababaihan committee can unlock new avenues for growth, achieve financial independence and establish direct connections with consumers, build brand recognition, and secure long-term business relationships.
Present during the activity are Rowell Q. Rodriguez, owner of Butterfly Eco Graden and tribal village, Palawan IMO Division Manager Armando L. Flores, Institutional Development Unit (IDU) Sr. IDO Glenda Buenavista and staff, Indigenous Peoples (IPs) from the tribal village, and members of Ibato Iraan FIA led by President Ronie G. Baron.
The NIA MIMAROPA under the leadership of Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes is committed to strengthen the lAs and empower women through strategic partnerships that drive economic growth and alleviate hunger and poverty.
