SUCESSFUL DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE ORIENTATION: A STEP TOWARDS A SAFER AND HEALTHIER ENVIRONMENT

Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro​ - In a proactive move to foster a safe and healthy working environment, the NIA Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon (MOMARO) Irrigation Management Office (IMO) organized a drug-free workplace orientation for its 100 personnel, supported by Acting Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes, at the NIA Training Center in Bayanan II, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, on November 29, 2023.

With the theme “Say NO to Drugs: Prevent drug addiction, get help to promote a safe work environment," NIA MOMARO IMO Division Manager Gerardo R. Perez spearheaded the event, highlighting the organization's dedication to eradicating the use of illicit substances and establishing a workplace free from drug-related activities.

The activity featured three speakers: Preventive Education and Community Involvement (PECI) Acting Public Information Officer/Chair Faye Faltado-Maaño, PECI Assistant Chief Legal Intelligence Officer Jecil Saragoza, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Chief Legal Atty. Diana Mae Calangi.

The primary objective of the mentioned initiative was to enhance employee awareness regarding the risks associated with drug use, bolster employees' skills in preventing drug abuse, broaden understanding of Republic Act 9165, and acquaint participants with the legal foundation of the Drug-Free Workplace Program.

The Baco-Bucayao River Irrigation System Head Engineer Maria Victoria O. Malenab and Romblon Provincial Irrigation Office (PIO) OIC Engr. Leonora C. Calusin was also present in the activity.
