NIA TURNS OVER 8 PUMPS FOR IA OF PANITIAN SIP IN SOFRONIA ESPAÑOLA

Palawan - In a significant move to augment the needs of the farmers in barangay Panitian, NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes and Palawan Irrigation Management Office Division Manager Armando L. Flores successfully handed over eight diesel engine centrifugal pumps of Panitian Small Irrigation Project (SIP) to the Lakas Magsasaka ng Panitian, Española Irrigators Association (IA), Inc., headed by Pres. Ricardo T. Carmaran, held at Sofronio Española, Palawan.

The 8 pumps, worth P959,175.04, are mounted on a shared steel base, run by a 4’x4’ self-priming centrifugal belt, and function at an impressive speed of 2600 Revolutions Per Minute (RPM). Remarkably, each pump is capable of servicing up to five (5) hectares of agricultural land within the barangay.

These machineries represent part of the Agency's pledge to assist IA members in maintaining efficient, and farming operations, thereby strengthening food security.

Present also during this activity were Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon (MOMARO) IMO Principal Engineer Ma. Victoria Malenab represented Division Manager Gerardo R. Perez, Malatgao Batang-Batang River Irrigation System (MBBRIS) Office-In-Charge (OIC) Engr. Nimrod Maceda, Institutional Development Unit (IDU) Sr. Irrigators Development Officer (IDO) Glenda Buenavista, and staff, Palawan IMO Unit Heads, Municipal Agriculturist Nimfa Borja, members of Lakas Magsasaka ng Panitian IA, and Sangguniang Barangay Committee on Agriculture Hon. Edwin Acoy, who also represented Panitian Barangay Captain Hon. Lasan Dingkohong.
