Oriental Mindoro - With the support of the NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, the NIA Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon (MOMARO) Irrigation Management Office (IMO), under the supervision of Acting Division Manager Engr. Maria Victoria O. Malenab, recently collaborated with Leads Agricultural Products Corporation/ Leads Agri venture to provide a three-day technical assistance program from July 30 to August 1, 2024 for farmers engaged in Contract Farming.
The activity introduced the features and benefits of using Jackpot Hybrid Rice (NSIC RC 666H), designed to address critical aspects of modern agriculture. It focused on proper seed soaking methods and effective pest management strategies, which are essential for enhancing crop resilience and productivity. These techniques help farmers achieve higher yields and produce better-quality crops.
Participants included members of various Irrigators' Associations, such as the Mapalo Water System Irrigators Association, Inc., Aurora Naujan Oriental Mindoro IA (ANOM IA), Inc., Samahang Magpapatubig ng Bayanan 2 Irrigators’ Association, Inc., Sumviltad Irrigators Association, Inc. and Murvic Irrigators’ Association, Inc. These associations play an essential role in the local agricultural sector, and the training aimed to enhance their capabilities in managing their irrigation systems and agricultural practices.
By imparting these essential agricultural techniques, the NIA MOMARO IMO and its partners strive to empower local farmers, ensuring better crop yields and sustainable farming practices. This initiative is a testament to the positive impact that collaboration between government agencies and private sector partners can have on the agricultural sector, ultimately contributing to food security and economic growth in the region.
