Oriental Mindoro - To mitigate the possible effects of El Niño, NIA MIMAROPA headed by Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, convenes the technical personnel on May 8, 2023 at Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon Irrigation Management Office (IMO) Conference Room, Bayanan II, Calapan City through online platform.
Heeding the call of the NIA Central Office, NIA MIMAROPA Acting Regional Manager Cervantes instructed the technical personnel to fast track the construction of solar-powered pump projects programmed for CY 2023 and assess the status of irrigation water supply in the region to ensure that they are sufficient amidst the El Niño phenomenon.
The agency is working with other agencies such as Department of Agriculture (DA), PAG-ASA, Local Government Units (LGUs) and Irrigators’ Associations to prepare for the impending effects of El Niño.
Present also during the meeting are MOMARO IMO Division Manager Gerardo R. Perez and Occidental Mindoro IMO Acting Division Manager Maria Victoria O. Malenab. Palawan IMO Division Manager Fidel P. Martinez also joined via virtual attendance.
