San Rafael, Bulacan - The National Irrigation Administration MIMAROPA (NIA MIMAROPA) is actively participating in a capability-building program to strengthen the establishment and development of Irrigation Service Cooperatives (ISCs), aligning with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between NIA and the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) in 2023.
The NIA Central Office Institutional Development Division (IDD), under the leadership of Administrator Engr. Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen, is spearheading the 3rd batch of the training program for the Institutional Development Section (IDS) Chiefs, representatives, and selected Institutional Development Program (IDP) implementers from Regions 1, 4A (CALABARZON), 4B (MIMAROPA), and 5.
These participants will gain valuable insights from Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) specialists namely Executive Assistant III Mr. Edmund Cris Acosido, Supervising Cooperatives Development Specialist Ms. Sally Triñanes, Senior Cooperatives Development Specialist Ms. Rowena Gumapac, and Supervising Cooperatives Development Specialist Mr. Inocencio Malapit.
The program equips participants with the skills to develop comprehensive strategies for establishing and managing ISCs or Irrigators Association (IA) Cooperatives. They will focus on cooperative fundamentals, governance management, and compliance with relevant regulations from both NIA and CDA. By partnering with CDA, NIA ensures participants gain valuable knowledge on best practices and regulatory compliance established by both agencies.
This training initiative, hosted by NIA Region 3 under the leadership of Regional Manager and Officer-in-Charge-Deputy Administrator for Engineering and Operations Sector Engr. Josephine B. Salazar, takes place from June 25-29, 2024, at the Farmers Training Center (FTC) in Tambubong, San Rafael, Bulacan.
