El Nido , Palawan - Led by National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Office-In-Charge (OIC) Deputy Administrator for Engineering and Operations Sector Engr. Josephine B. Salazar with the support of NIA Administrator Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen, the NIA MIMAROPA under the leadership of Acting Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes and Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO) headed by Division Manager Armando L. Flores launched the Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) on October 11-12 in El Nido, Palawan.
The KNP is a part of the Agency’s efforts to promote food security and support the Irrigators Associations (IAs) to sell their products directly to consumers through a simplified supply chain without the need for intermediaries or middlemen and allows farmers to earn higher income and ensures that consumers have access to fresh agricultural produce at affordable prices.
The Palawan IMO with 140 IAs served by the irrigation system province-wide benefiting 9,699 farmers and 28,395.29 hectares service area has huge potential to deliver the produce directly accessible to the consumers.
During the launch event, the Elvita, Taritien, Malatgao Farmers Irrigators Association (FIA), Paradise Teleng FIA of Malatagao RIS and Narra South FIA of Batang Batang RIS in Narra, Libertad Taytay Palawan IA, Western Alacalian and Kawacalian FIA in Taytay and Pangobilian IA in Brookes Pt showcased a variety of agricultural products including fruits, vegetables, seafood, and rice. Meanwhile, Arutaya IA and Abasan IA in Roxas and Ibato Iraan FIA of Ibato-Iraan SRIP in Aborlan produced processed food such as banana chips, pinasugbo, sinamacan, cashew, and cassava crackers
This two-day program generated a remarkable total sale of P43,803. The NIA MIMAROPA Palawan IMO ensures the program's continuity in the province to support IAs.
Present also during the KNP are Division Manager Lowell Lozano, Human Resource Unit Head Susan Lozano, Region 3 Administrative and Finance Division Manager Rochelle R. Cervantes, Public Relations Officer Ruby Delacruz, Occidental Mindoro Division Manager Ray Calusin, Institutional Development Unit (IDU), Sr. Irrigators Development Officer (IDO) Glenda G. Buenavista and IDU staff, Representative of Department of Agriculture (DA) Ronald Calapin, and officials of Samahan ng mga Magpapatubig ng Mabini, El Nido Palawan Inc., New Ibajay Cagbanaba-2 River IA, Pamatabu IA, and Kasali ka Bagong Bayan IA.
