Brookes Point, Palawan - In a commendable display of commitment and efficiency, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) MIMAROPA Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO) has fulfilled the urgent plea of the Mambalot Irrigators Association (IA) by successfully completing the canal lining from station 0+137-0+149 of Mambalot Communal Irrigation System (CIS) on September 4, 2023 in Brookes Point, Palawan.
This achievement came after a fruitful meeting between Palawan IMO Division Manager Armando L. Flores and President Samuel C. Yayen of Mambalot Irrigator's Association (IA) on July 18, 2023, about the IA request to reinstate irrigation services for 199.50 hectares of farmland by reestablishing the damaged 13-meter canal lining caused by Typhoon Maring.
Recognizing the urgency and importance of irrigation to the livelihood of the farmers, the NIA MIMAROPA led by Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes and Palawan IMO swiftly constructed the canal lining to ensure the 199.50 hectares of land will receive consistent irrigation services starting this year’s cropping period, leading to enhanced agricultural productivity and bountiful harvests for 160 farmer-beneficiaries.
The NIA MIMAROPA Palawan IMO remains steadfast in its commitment to support farmers by providing sustainable irrigation systems that empower them to thrive in their agricultural pursuits.
