NIA MIMAROPA, Palawan IMO Completes Final Inspection of Papualan SIP in Coron

Coron, Palawan - In a commendable display of dedication to excellence, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) MIMAROPA Region under the leadership of Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes and Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO), headed by Division Manager Armando L. Flores, completed the final inspection of the construction of the CY 2022 Papualan Small Irrigation Project (SIP) on July 12, 2023. This 31-million Peso irrigation project includes the construction of canal linings and canal structures undertaken by PJ Construction and Supply on June 16, 2022.

The Papualan SIP aims to provide reliable irrigation services to 100 hectares of farmland in Barangay Decalachao, improve the livelihood of 30 farmer-beneficiaries of Papualan Irrigators Association (IA), and boost food security.

The final inspection was conducted by Division Manager Flores, Sr. Engineer Mary Grace Cartagena, Engineer Nimrod Maceda, Palawan IMO Project-In-Charge (PIC), Hydrologist and inspectorate team, Institutional Development Unit (IDU) Community Relations Assistant (CRA) Marfen Sarmiento, contractor, and Papualan IA President Danilo Laab and Board of Directors (BOD) Ernesto D. Francisco Sr.

Together they assessed the project's infrastructure including 9.627 km canal lining, 160 meters barrel left main canal, 40 meters barrel left lateral A, and 28 meters elevated flume to ensure that the contractor adhered to the specifications of the plans and to guarantee the long-term success and sustainability of the irrigation project.

With this significant milestone reached, the agency remains steadfast in its pursuit of technical excellence and good governance and continues to uphold quality standards to provide efficient, effective, and sustainable irrigation services to its stakeholders.
