Sofronio Española, Palawan - In a groundbreaking move towards sustainable agriculture, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) MIMAROPA Region under the leadership of Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes and Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO) headed by Division Manager Armando L. Flores breaks ground on July 21, 2023, for the phase I construction of Panisiran Solar Pump Irrigation Project (SPIP) with funding amount of ₱20 million from the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program-Irrigation Component (CARP IC).
The project covers the installation of 2 units solar-powered pump and accessories and construction of water collector, water tank, pump house, and 1.886 linear meters of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipeline.
Division Manager Flores stated that Panisiran SPIP will harness the power of the sun to provide an efficient and cost-effective solution for 19.43 hectares of irrigating farmlands in barangay Pulot to increase agricultural productivity, enhance food security, and improve the livelihoods of 10 farmer-beneficiaries of Panisiran Carasanan Irrigators Association (IA).
The ceremony was attended by Palawan IMO Manager Flores, Sr. Engr. A Mary Grace B. Cartagena, Institutional Development Unit (IDU) Sr. IDO Glenda G. Buenavista, Malatgao Batang-Batang RIS Office-In-Charge Engr. A Nimrod B. Maceda, Finance Unit Accounting Processor Heide Ustares, NIA CARP Personnel, Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Agrarian Reform Program Officer (ARPO), Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU), Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU), Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU), Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) and Panisiran Carasanan IA.
