NIA Conducts Skills Development Training for Engineers of Planning and Design Section in Palawan

Palawan - Led by National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Office-In-Charge (OIC) Deputy Administrator for Engineering and Operations Sector Engr. Josephine B. Salazar with the support of NIA Administrator Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen, the Civil Works Design Section (CWDS) headed by Acting Principal Engr. Roald Marck J. Revellame under Design and Specification Division conducted two-week Skills Development Training for Detailed Engineering Design of Diversion Works and its Appurtenant Structures Design of Pumps and River training-Batch II to Design Engineers of Regions 3, 6, 7, 8, 13, and UPRIIS starting on October 11, 2023, in El Nido, Palawan.

The comprehensive training program will delve into a wide range of subjects including an overview of survey, hydrology and geology, sediment transport, flood mapping, river training works, and mechanical design. Leading experts in the field such as NIA Design and Specification Division-Engineering Department (DSD-ED) Supervising Engr. Ariel S. Najera, Sr. Engr. Warren Denzel V. Lucas, Project Planning Division (PPD-ED) Senior Hydrologist Ray-Ville S. Reyes, Supervising Geologist Vincent Jo Mark Abrigo, Supervising Geodetic Engr. Bernardo G. Publico III, and CWDS Acting Chief, Engr. Roald Marck J. Revellame.

OIC-Deputy Administrator Salazar emphasized the significance of this training in propelling irrigation development and highlighted how it will empower participants with essential skills and knowledge to create effective irrigation systems, ultimately benefiting farmers and agricultural communities in the country.

Cervantes, Engineering and Operations Division Manager Lowell Lozano, Human Resource Unit Head Susan Lozano, Region 3 Administrative and Finance Division Manager Rochelle Cervantes, Public Relations Officer Ruby Delacruz, Occidental Mindoro Division Manager Ray Calusin, and Palawan IMO Division Manager Armando L.
