Oriental Mindoro - To discuss the plans and programs in preparation for 2023 Wet Season and effects of El Niño, NIA Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon Irrigation Management Office (IMO) headed by Engr. Gerardo R. Perez conducts the inter-agency convergence meeting with the Irrigators’ Associations (IA) and representative from different lined agencies.
The said activity allows the participants to discuss and develop a common understanding on capacity-building issues and priority needs of the farmers. Moreover, the activity facilitates exchange of views and ideas aimed at improving the planning and delivery of services to farmer.
Acting Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes was also present during the activity where he said, “Ang ultimate goal po namin ay tumulong sa ating mga magsasaka.” He also encouraged them to replicate the approach of the NIA Acting Administrator Guillen that made their town in Piddig, Ilocos a model of good governance, sustainable and inclusive development. Moreover, Acting Regional Manager Cervantes shared the plan of the Administrator in forming the IAs into one cooperative per municipality as the agency is committed in uplifting and improving the lives of the farmers.
Present also during the activity were Engineering and Operations Division Manager Lowell L. Lozano, Administrative and Finance Division Manager Kirsty Caroline M. Hernandez-Aceron, Landbank of the Philippines Calapan Branch Account Officer Mr. Kim Mejico, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) representative Ms. Ruelita Nilo, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) Chief Meteoroligist Officer Mr. Ferdinand T. Valdeavilla, Officer-in-Charge in Agro Division Mr. Venerando M. Sanchez, Jr. and Agriculturist II of Oriental Mindoro Provincial Agriculture Office Mr. Jefte Bay-ungan, Roxas Municipal Agriculturist Ms. Nerissa C. Gutierrez, Socorro Acting Municipal Agriculturist Mr. Cesar P. Delica, and representatives from Municipal Agriculture Office in Oriental Mindoro; Ms. Grace T. Mante of Calapan City, Ms. Selena Pabola of Pola, Ms. Mary Khris Jenn I. Fontanilla of Victoria, Mr. Gary Louie Sapinit of Bongabong and the Oriental Mindoro Irrigators’ Association Presidents/ Officers under National and Communal Irrigation Systems.
The same activity was conducted to the province of Marinduque on May 17, 2023, and in the province of Romblon, today May 18, 2023.
