Occidental Mindoro - July 18, 2023, marks a significant milestone for the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) - Occidental Mindoro Irrigation Management Office (IMO) as Engr. Raymundo L. Calusin takes charge as Division Manager. On his first day, Engr. Calusin wasted no time in visiting our local farmers by conducting a site inspection at Sablayan under the supervision of MIMAROPA Acting Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes.
The site inspection aimed to assess the state of the field that was previously featured on TV Patrol last July 8, 2023, where local farmers from Tagumpay Farmer’s Small Irrigator’s Association (FIA) voiced their complaints about the lack of water supply for their crops. Promptly responding to the farmer’s call, NIA took immediate action, coordinating with FIA President Mark Henry Fontanilla.
Mr. Fontanilla expressed his gratitude towards NIA for their immediate response, noting that the provided fuel allowed them to finish the brush damming process in the area. As a result, there is now a steady flow of water reaching their crops, ensuring their cultivation can grow.
Present also during the site inspection were Administrative and Finance Division Manager Kirsty Caroline M. Hernandez – Aceron, Chief of Operations Engr. Emelito V. Urriquia, Senior Institutional Development Officer (IDO) Edwin V. Arevalo, and Engr. Nojario T. Baladjay Jr. Together, they witnessed the positive impact of the agency’s efforts on the farmer’s livelihood.
