Occidental Mindoro - Taking proactive steps to ensure the strong performance of the irrigation system and to assess the well-being of the agricultural sector, NIA MIMAROPA Acting Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes, spearheaded the inspection of various irrigation systems in Occidental Mindoro on September 13-14, 2023. Accompanied by NIA-Occidental Mindoro Irrigation Management Office (OMIMO) Division Manager Raymundo L. Calusin and Engineering and Operations Section Officer-in-Charge Nojario T. Baladjay, Jr., the purpose of the visit was to evaluate the status of the irrigation infrastructures mainly in Amnay-Patrick Dam in Sablayan, Caguray River Irrigation System (RIS) in Magsaysay and Lumintao RIS, Pitogo Communal Irrigation System (CIS) and Manoot CIS in Rizal.
During their field visit, the farmer beneficiaries of one of the seven (7) Caguray RIS-Solar Pump Irrigation Project (SPIP) with landholdings of 32.6 hectares extended their heartfelt gratitude to the agency for the establishment of the said project.
RM Cervantes further expressed his satisfaction with the inspection's outcome and commended the progress of various projects for CY 2023. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts to maintain the integrity of the irrigation system and enhance the livelihoods of farmers in Occidental Mindoro.
